“When you are impeccable, you take responsibility for your actions, but you do not judge or blame yourself.”
Don Miguel Ruiz
Over the course of this last week, I’ve been less than impeccable with my word. It would be easy to blame someone else but the words I said were mine. The emotions tied to the words were mine . The intent behind the words was mine. It was not my finest moment.
According to The Four Agreements, or at least how I interpret the book, all I did was hurt myself. I used words against myself. I boomeranged all of those emotions onto myself. That’s probably why I felt so disjointed, so frustrated…so bad.
But there’s hope. I fell. But since I was wearing my psychic “emergency bracelet”, I can get back up again. In fact, it’s my responsibility to get back up and not allow myself to take a victim stance.
So, here’s the deal. I broke my agreement to be impeccable with my word but I choose to be impeccable from this moment on…and if I falter, it’s my responsibility to forgive myself. It’s not a choice to forgive myself. I will. I must forgive myself. I forgive myself so that I can do my best next time.
