Daily Splashes and Other Hair Issues In Summer.

As all other black girls know, summer time swims and hair maintenance go together like oil and water. I’ve been swimming a couple of times in the past few days…and I’m afraid to take my hair down.

It’s not that  I am afraid my kinky curls will offend. It’s just that it took me a long time to put all of my hair into a swim friendly, sorta style. When the weather’s this hot I usually wrap my hair in a turban or otherwise pin it up and away from my neck. The feel of hair on wet, sweaty skin freaks me out. But my hair is so thick, which is a good thing, and absorbs moisture. So if I wash my hair every time I go swimming and let it air dry, I risk catching a summer cold…which sucks.

So, my dilemma at the moment is  “To swim or not to swim?” Should I shake the devil off and jump in that water yelling, “To Hell with it all” or should I give it day or two before venturing into the pool again? I’m still thinking about it.

What’s a girl to do?
